Taking over the Vrijthof Square in the centre of Maastricht, the open-air concert is guaranteed to leave you speechless, with special guests and some of the best waltzes and classical music. Maastricht is André Rieu’s hometown, and the only city in the world where he performs open-air concerts every single year – the summer performances are the ultimate experience for his fans. Our day begins with a discovery of beautiful Maastricht. Explore the charming old city centre, wander the Stokstraat Quarter, and take in remarkable sights such as the Basilica of Our Lady and the Ramparts.
This evening, prior to the concert, we enjoy a pre-concert dinner in Maastricht.
Afterwards, we take our seat for the highlight of our tour – the André Rieu concert. From romantic, emotional ballads to celebrated waltzes, expect to be taken on a musical journey like no other as André captivates the crowd with his charismatic presence.
Valkenburg is sometimes called ‘Marlstone Town’ because of the lime found in the soil and the soft yellow marlstone which has, since Roman times, been quarried as a building material. As a result, there is now a network of over 150 miles of underground corridors beneath the town. A visit to these caves is highly recommended.
There is plenty here to keep you occupied above ground as well, such as the castle ruins and shops, bars, cafés and restaurants.
*Please note: the excursion on day 3 may be different depending on your hotel location, such as Brussels or Cologne.
